As General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Jennifer Armstrong is responsible for the legal and regulatory affairs for the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO). This includes the administration of hearing panels, dealer, and marketplace membership matters, and providing advice and support to the Board of Directors.  Jennifer also oversees CIRO’s communications mandate, which includes internal and external communications as well as the creation and delivery of member education services and investor resources.

Prior to joining CIRO’s predecessor organization, Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), Jennifer served as Associate General Counsel and Managing Director at Bank of Montreal (BMO) Financial Group where she oversaw BMO’s Canadian Capital Markets legal team and all activities relating to investment dealer activity including trading, equity research, investment banking, mergers and acquisitions and securities regulatory matters.

Before joining BMO, Jennifer spent 11 years in private practice at major Canadian law firms.

Jennifer holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Western University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Windsor.
