Jennifer Newman
Chief Operating Officer of Mastercard Foundation Asset Management (AFAM)
Ms. Newman is a corporate director and Chief Operating Officer of MFAM, tasked with building a diversified investment portfolio on behalf of the Mastercard Foundation. MFAM’s mandate is to generate long-term investment returns to support the philanthropic mission of the Mastercard Foundation in Africa and Canada.
The CIRO Board benefits from Ms. Newman’s extensive experience in finance, technology, project, risk and change management. She also served on the IIROC Board and was the Chair of IIROC’s FAR Committee.
Ms. Newman spent more than 10 years at Canada’s largest single-profession pensions plan, the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan (OTPP) where she held several roles including running Operations and Technology Delivery. Before joining OTPP, Ms. Newman worked at CIBC and BMO, holding various roles in Finance, Risk and Corporate Strategy.
She received her CPA (CA) while working at PWC in technology consulting and insolvency. Ms. Newman holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen’s University and the ICD.D designation.
